Course Schedule: (series of 7 classes)
1. Feb 21 Watercolor painting basics: Materials, brush work, color intensity gradations, value gradations, gradations from one color to another.
2. Feb 28 Watercolor washes: wet, dry, variegated. Negative and positive shapes, charging color, skies.
3. March 7 Monochromatic painting (one color painting) : homework review, value and intensity
4. March 14 Color theory: homework review, mixing colors, intensity, temperature, complimentary and analogous, juxtaposition, pushing and pulling, painting color wheel
5. March 21 Color and watercolor paints: (“blue is not blue”), temperature, mixing, opacity and transparency, charging, glazing, juxtaposition
6. Mar 28 Creating depth: homework review, size, placement, overlapping, alternation, contrast of value, temperature, edges, detail, and texture
7. April 4 simplifying shapes (Composition: homework review, psi (thirds), intuition, edges, armature, types
