Juried Shows

Annual Juried National Show

North Valley Art League is proud of its long-standing Annual Juried National Show, where League members compete with known and up-coming artists from all over the United States. Few cities the size of Redding can attest to a show of this importance. A nationally-recognized artist is invited each year to select and jury the works and present a week-long workshop. North Valley Art League's Annual National Juried Show brings together local and national artists in an exhibit that has been called one of the North State's best. Those who make the final cut may be assured that they are among some of the finest in the nation, making this our most anticipated competition by artists and viewers alike. The reception coincides with the Annual Redding Cultural Cruise. Visitors to the Gallery on this chilly January evening are met with a warm atmosphere, chamber music, fine food and beautiful art that become the counterpoints for lively conversation with other artists and art lovers alike.     Click here for 2009 prospectus

Autumn Juried Small Painting Show

North Valley Art League’s Autumn Small Painting Show is an annual event for which the adage “good things come in small packages” holds true. A variety of media and compositions make this show an extreme delight. In this November Juried Show, size limitations impose no limits on skill, as every year our local artists meet the challenge with creativity and talent. As the competition grows keener, each year’s show promises to be better than the last. The Sunday awards reception on a warm autumn afternoon is always well attended. It is an occasion for local artists and art lovers to come together and appreciate small paintings at their best.

Juried Photography Show

The North Valley Art League celebrates a Juried Photography Show every May. This competition, first held in 1989 for Art League members and local residents, has expanded to a regional show for photographers from Northern California and Southern Oregon. The competition's purpose is to offer photographers an opportunity to exhibit their work and to demonstrate the quality and variety of photography from the region. With the introduction of digital and computer techniques, photography has opened its doors to new and exciting interpretations that hold their own with traditional photographic processes. Each year’s show is an example of the limitless ingenuity and creativity of the photographic artist. Prospectus will be available in March.
